Blitz, Busta Rhymes, Common & Rampage 1997 Kiss FM Freestyle
While going through an old stack of tapes yesterday (YES, CASSETTES!!!!), I stumbled across this freestyle session I totally forgot about from WAAAAAY BACK!
In 1997, when Kiss FM was still on Holloway Road, Busta Rhymes, Common & Rampage The Last Boy Scout were in London on a promo run for Common’s 3rd album, One Day It’ll All Make Sense, Busta’s 2nd solo album, When Disaster Strikes & Rampage’s debut album, Scouts Honour…By Way of Blood.
So on that Wednesday night, Max, Dave, Busta, Common & Rampage plus entourage was in studio 1, vibin…
…while I was in studio 3 spinning the beats for them to spit to…weird experience, but that was the setup…so I didn’t really feel too much a part of it….
The highlight of that day tho, was after the show finished, a former friend, who happened to be the BIGGEST Busta fan, brought EVERY piece of vinyl Busta EVER rhymed on (collabo’s too!!! yes, Busta is STILL the cameo King) to the station for him to sign.
As soon as he saw the stack of Vinyl, he sat down with us and told us everything from what went on when recording particular joints to the fist fights with the other members of Leaders before going in the booth together to record seconds later.
Busta kicked it with us for like 3 hours after the show….special moment.
These are the times I REALLY LOVE my job.
Enjoy
Salute!!!
